Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is jumping into the battle for Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.

bcUmtiti has so far baulked at opening new contract talks with Barca, which are eager to upgrade his current buyout clause – set at €60m. Manchester United and Chelsea are in contact with Umtiti’s minders about a move to England.
However, Don Balon says Perez is now in the mix, having made contact with Umtiti’s representatives. Indeed, the defender has informed Barca of Real’s approach. Perez sees Umtiti as an ideal defensive partner for captain Sergio Ramos.
And with his contract carrying a buyout clause, there is no need for Perez to negotiate with Barca so long as he meets Umtiti’s price.
